How Process Servers Use Successful Social Media Investigations

When someone knows that they are going to be sued or taken to court for a legal matter, they often have a habit of disappearing so that the case cannot move forward against them. In some cases, defendants may have simply moved or changed jobs so that they are not easily found. In either case, one way that private process servers can track down these individuals to be served is with social media investigations.

Search Engines

You never know what you might be able to find with a simple Google search. Although only a few social media platforms get all of the attention, there are actually over a hundred of them out there on the internet. You can also search within social media platforms for an account in the name you are looking for. When looking up social media accounts, remember to also search for abbreviations or nicknames.

Searching through Social Media Accounts

The more information you have for a social media search, such as location, the more likely you are going to be to find the person you are searching for. Once you find them, you can look at their employment history, current city, and other information found in their About section of their profile.

Searching Friend Accounts

If you are not able to find someone with their known names or nicknames, you might be able to find them through mutual friends and acquaintances. If they are using a fake name on social media, there will be clues as to their real identity once you find them on friend lists of other profiles.
